In this $340,000 Cadillac EV, the battery cells are hidden throughout the car
Briefly

Cadillac faced significant design challenges with its ultraluxury EV, the Celestiq, requiring an innovative approach to the battery placement due to the car's unique proportions. Standard battery designs could not fit, leading GM's engineering team to adopt a horizontal configuration, with varying heights to maximize space for passengers. This design accommodates a spacious back seat and meets the car’s goal of 300 miles range by incorporating additional battery cells into the center console, ultimately achieving the desired performance without compromising luxury aesthetics.
We had a challenge, because due to the low roof height and the expressive proportions, there wasn't room for a typical battery in this vehicle.
It's more of a topographical situation... once the engineers had gotten to that point, there were still 25 miles short of what the car needed in range.
