fan-shaped keyboard with built-in mouse lets users type with one hand
Briefly

HTX Studio designed a fan-shaped keyboard equipped with a built-in trackball, tailored for one-handed users. The keyboard features 61 QWERTY keys arranged for easy access by the fingers, replacing the need to move between a keyboard and mouse. Following a request from a father for his daughter, who lost use of her right hand, the team focused on creating a compact and fully functional keyboard that would simplify typing and navigation. After testing various input methods, they chose a trackball for the final design, ensuring that it is suitable for single-handed operation.
HTX Studio created a fan-shaped keyboard with a built-in trackball, designed for one-handed use, featuring 61 QWERTY keys within easy reach of five fingers.
The design team opted for a small and precise trackball after testing trackpoint, joystick, and touchpad options, ensuring usability with one hand.
HTX Studio designed the keyboard in response to an email from a father whose daughter lost use of her right hand, aiming for full one-handed usability.
