Zohran Berns up Brooklyn
"The venerable Sanders, seemingly unaged over the past decade-even as he turns 84 (today, in fact, HBD Bernie), was joined onstage by a politician almost exactly 50 years his junior-Democratic nominee for mayor Zohran Mamdani, who often credits Sanders's 2016 run for president as awakening him to the political movement of democratic socialism. The two spent earlier parts of Saturday in Astoria alongside another thirtysomething protégée of Sanders, congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez."
"Listen , or wherever you get your podcasts. The torrential downpour that hit New York City on Saturday afternoon didn't appear to dampen enthusiasm for the "political revolution" in the slightest-at least on the campus of Brooklyn College, where hundreds of soddened people crammed into the Tow Center for the Performing Arts for the local stop on Bernie Sanders's barnstorming "Fighting Oligarchy" tour."
A torrential downpour did not diminish enthusiasm at Brooklyn College, where hundreds of sodden people packed the Tow Center for the Performing Arts for Bernie Sanders's local stop on his "Fighting Oligarchy" tour. Sanders, who turns 84, appeared alongside Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic mayoral nominee who credits Sanders's 2016 presidential campaign with introducing him to democratic socialism. Sanders and Mamdani spent parts of Saturday in Astoria alongside congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Both Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders endorsed Mamdani in the Democratic primary. Saturday marked the first event Sanders held with Mamdani. Mamdani said he began canvassing for his Assembly campaign after Sanders's 2020 post-heart attack rally in Queensbridge.
