Briefly

Since taking office, President Trump has significantly altered U.S. policy regarding Russia's war in Ukraine, causing alarm among allies in Europe and Asia. The suspension of military aid to Ukraine and statements against NATO membership have raised concerns about a potential U.S. pivot towards cooperation with Moscow. European leaders are considering unified action to bolster support for Ukraine. Meanwhile, allies in Asia, notably Japan and South Korea, express anxiety over their security ties with the U.S. amidst fears of being sidelined, especially in relation to a more assertive China.

European leaders are contemplating a united response to Trump's actions that could jeopardize the entire post-1945 security architecture on the continent.
Both Japan and South Korea are concerned about Trump’s commitment to their security, but fear speaking out against a leader upon whom their security relies.
They are now asking themselves if they, too, are about to be abandoned by Washington and face the “Ukraine treatment” from China’s Xi Jinping.
