Eleven Democrats are competing in a special primary for New Jersey's 11th Congressional District on Thursday. The primary winner will face Republican Randolph Township Mayor Joe Hathaway in a special general election in April. Mikie Sherrill resigned the seat after winning the state's gubernatorial election last November. Progressive labor activist Analilia Mejia has endorsements from Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and local Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and has called for abolishing ICE while criticizing moderate Democrats. Former Rep. Tom Malinowski is seeking a comeback with backing from U.S. Sen. Andy Kim, who cited Malinowski's congressional experience.
