The New York-founded festival features over 80 food stalls representing 12 countries, live musical acts, cultural installations and giveaways, and attracted nearly 20,000 visitors in its first year. Organizers received reports that ICE might target large public gatherings and responded by declaring the festival a safe space and publicly rejecting ICE presence. The team coordinated with local leaders, advocacy groups and the City of New York and distributed protocols to vendors to protect attendees and vendors.
