Stephen J. Cloobeck is committing $1.4 million to a television advertising campaign for his gubernatorial run in California. His ad will air across all California markets and in major cities like New York and Washington, D.C. Cloobeck emphasizes his dedication to making California more affordable and livable for all residents through the ad. The absence of a clear frontrunner in the race following Kamala Harris's decision not to run prompts Cloobeck's aggressive advertising strategy, as name recognition is crucial among California's 22.9 million voters.
"I will always fight for California. All Californians deserve the contract to be fulfilled for an affordable livable workable state," Cloobeck said. "Watch [the ad] and you will see how a conservative Democrat fights for All Californians."
Cloobeck confirmed the size of the ad buy; a campaign advisor confirmed that they would run through Monday and that he was also launching a social-media effort.
Public records of advertising purchases show that Cloobeck bought space in every California market on cable, as well as broadcast television time in Sacramento.
It’s also not unprecedented for Cloobeck, a Beverly Hills philanthropist and businessman. He announced his gubernatorial run in November with a fusillade of television and digital ads.
