President Trump spent Saturday golfing with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, where they won a tournament and discussed the strategic need for icebreaker ships to navigate the Arctic Ocean. Trump stated their meeting was productive in both sport and international discussions. He also highlighted a plan for a U.S. purchase of icebreaker ships and reinforced the importance of their partnership for peace and security. Stubb praised Trump's assertive stance against Russia regarding Ukraine, suggesting that such rhetoric is effective in dealing with Putin.
I just played a round of Golf with Alexander Stubb, President of Finland. He is a very good player, and we won the Men's Member-Guest Golf Tournament at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach County.
President Stubb and I look forward to strengthening the partnership between the United States and Finland, and that includes the purchase and development of a large number of badly needed Icebreakers for the U.S.
