Volunteers sought for National Voter Registration Day
"The League of Women Voters of Cupertino-Sunnyvale is inviting residents to think nationally and help out locally on National Voter Registration Day. The league needs volunteers to help at its voter registration and information table on Sept. 16 at the Cupertino Library. Visit https://bit.ly/3UuWkrQ to sign up for a shift to help with voter registration, voter education and spreading the word about the league. Training will be provided. "CADRE of volunteers Collaborating Agencies' Disaster Relief Effort, or CADRE, launched its Community Support Networks for Resilience Project this month, aimed at recruiting 1,000 volunteers over age 55 to help establish 20 discipline-specific community support networks in Santa Clara County. These networks will be designed to build the capacity of organizations that work in or serve key areas of the community, including access and equity, animal welfare, business and employment, environmental challenges, health services, operations and social support."
National Voter Registration Day activities include a League of Women Voters of Cupertino-Sunnyvale voter registration and information table at the Cupertino Library on Sept. 16, with volunteers needed, training provided and sign-ups at https://bit.ly/3UuWkrQ; questions directed to voterservice@lwvcs.org. Cupertino-Toyokawa Sister Cities hosted a Bell Ringing for World Peace on Aug. 6 with speakers including municipal and diplomatic leaders, and a handcrafted senbazuru symbolized hope and renewal. CADRE launched the Community Support Networks for Resilience Project to recruit 1,000 volunteers over age 55 to build 20 discipline-specific networks across Santa Clara County for pre-emergency awareness and coordinated local emergency planning.
