President Donald Trump launched a verbal attack on the American-Somali community during a White House Cabinet meeting, calling Somali migrants "garbage" and saying he did not want them in the country. He disparaged their countries, warned the United States was at a "tipping point," and explicitly named Rep. Ilhan Omar and her associates as "garbage." He urged that such migrants be sent back to fix their places of origin. Rep. Ilhan Omar responded on social media calling his obsession "creepy" and suggesting he needs help. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey affirmed that the city welcomes its large Somali community and that Trump's remarks will not change that.
