Vice President JD Vance faced protestors in Cincinnati during a discussion about Ukraine, leading to differing interpretations of the encounter. While Vance described the exchange as mostly respectful, protesters expressed dissatisfaction with his portrayal. Vance's comments about the protestors chasing his young daughter sparked criticism, as demonstrators like Ann Henry denied this claim. The incident highlights the contentious political climate surrounding Ukraine and the challenges faced by public figures during public protests, especially when family is involved.
Several of the protestors said, at one point. With respect, ma'am, I disagree, Vance said. I think that what we're doing is we're actually forcing a diplomatic settlement.
After the confrontation, Vance posted the following on X: Today while walking my 3 year old daughter a group of Slava Ukraini protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared.
Protestor Ann Henry, who supplied the video to WCPO, disputed Vance's account of the incident telling WCPO that she and several others demonstrators spontaneously passed Vance.
I just wish he wouldn't have characterized it the way he did on Twitter.
