Urban Ore fails to reshire union workers - 48 hills
Briefly

Urban Ore workers suspended their strike in May with an expectation of reinstatement following an agreement. The 45-day suspension ended on June 15, but none of the 11 workers were reinstated. Owners offered reinstatement for only one-third of the workers, citing insolvency without providing financial evidence. While Urban Ore met financial goals in both May and June, ownership communicated that insolvency prevented full reinstatement. A June 24 notice proposed criteria for a phased approach to bringing workers back based on skill needs rather than the prior agreement to reinstate all workers.
"We now find that while we met the agreed measure, it unfortunately did not take into account the depth of our financial insolvency," ownership said in a June 24 notice.
The original suspension of strike agreement signed April 30 required ownership to bring all 11 workers back once the company met the agreed upon average monthly revenue goal.
