Sen. Mark Kelly expressed concerns over President Trump's recent airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, viewing them as a risky gamble with no clear endgame. While Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed the strikes obliterated Iran’s nuclear ambitions, experts suggest Iran may have relocated significant amounts of enriched uranium. Kelly emphasized that the strikes have increased the risk of Iranian attacks on U.S. personnel, potentially accelerating Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons, which previously was not an imminent threat.
"The Iranians at any moment now could attack Americans. That wasn't a risk we had before this strike was conducted," Kelly said.
"We tried to set them back in developing a nuclear weapon, but this could be the moment that they make a decision to start building a bomb and further enriching that uranium."
