President Trump warned New York City voters against electing Zohran Mamdani and threatened to cut federal funding if Mamdani wins. Trump posted that Mamdani would face unprecedented problems with Washington and claimed the mayoralty funding would be withheld to prevent fulfillment of his “FAKE Communist promises.” Mamdani mocked the warning as stages of grief and said Trump is coming to terms with an expected Mamdani victory. Polling shows Mamdani leading a three-way contest after Mayor Adams left the race. Trump has repeatedly intervened in the contest despite low popularity in the city.
