Trump told reporters the United States will run Venezuela until new leadership is found and suggested occupation costs would be offset by Venezuelan oil revenues. Trump said the U.S. has not been in contact with opposition leader Maria Corina Machado and assessed that she lacks sufficient support and respect inside Venezuela to serve as leader. Machado had dedicated her Nobel Peace Prize to Trump, saying he deserved to win.
