Trump: Tariff decision "an emergency," will appeal to SCOTUS as soon as Wednesday
""We're going in as an emergency - we'll be probably be doing it tomorrow ... you see the stock market, this decision is an emergency.""
""There's a pall over the country waiting for the Supreme Court,""
""If that decision would be lost it would be an economic disaster for the United States,""
""Our country will be weak, pathetic and not rich""
Trump called a federal appeals court decision an emergency and said the administration will file an appeal to keep previously imposed tariffs in place. He said action could come as soon as tomorrow and described a national mood of uncertainty awaiting the Supreme Court. Stocks fell more than 1% and bond yields rose amid concerns about lost tariff revenue. White House economic officials warned of severe consequences if tariffs are reversed, including the disappearance of tariff revenues and reduced negotiating leverage. The appeals court ruled most tariffs illegal but allowed them to remain until Oct. 14 while an appeal is filed.
