Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman criticized Harvard's response to the Trump's administration's funding threats, advocating for a reassessment of its leadership and nonprofit status. During an appearance on CNBC, he contended that rather than rejecting the administration's concerns with lawsuits, Harvard should have engaged with the issues raised. Ackman specifically called for the ouster of President Alan Garber and senior fellow Penny Pritzker, asserting that the university's funding privileges warranted a more conciliatory approach to federal oversight and public funding issues.
When Harvard received a letter from the administration, the worst thing they could have done was to reply saying they were doing nothing and would sue.
Taxpayer money coming into Harvard is a privilege, not a right. It's time for a change in leadership at the board of Harvard.
