Trump says he just wants to 'do what's right' in the Warner deal
"I know the companies very well. I know what they're doing, but I have to see, I have to see what percentage of market they have."
"We have to see the Netflix percentage of market, Paramount, the percentage of market,"
"I want to do what's right. It's so, so very important to do what's right,"
""great person" who has done "one of the greatest jobs in the history of movies.""
Netflix announced a $72 billion agreement to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) after WBD rejected Paramount Skydance's offers. Paramount responded with a hostile $30-per-share bid for all WBD shares. President Donald Trump said he would assess the combined market shares of Netflix, Paramount, and WBD and stated he wants to do what’s right before deciding whether to intervene. Trump warned that a combined Netflix–WBD share could be a problem while also praising Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos for doing one of the greatest jobs in the history of movies. Presidential regulatory authority could determine the deal's fate in 2025.
