Trump raises tariffs to 15% on imports from all countries
"I, as President of the United States of America, will be, effective immediately, raising the 10% Worldwide Tariff on Countries, many of which have been ripping' the U.S. off for decades, without retribution (until I came along!), to the fully allowed, and legally tested, 15% level."
"It's my opinion that the court has been swayed by foreign interests and a political movement that is far smaller than people would ever think."
"I'm ashamed of certain members of the court. Absolutely ashamed for not having the courage to do what's right for our country."
Donald Trump announced an immediate increase of a temporary tariff rate on U.S. imports from 10% to 15%, less than 24 hours after the Supreme Court ruled he exceeded his authority. He criticized the justices, calling the 6-3 decision ridiculous, poorly written and extraordinarily anti-American, and accused the court of being swayed by foreign interests. The administration imposed an immediate additional 10% tariff on all imports on top of existing levies. Trump cited section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 allowing up to 15% for 150 days and said his administration will craft legally permissible new tariffs while facing possible legal challenges.
