"tossed into the seventh circle of hell."
"a Nazi streak"
"I will be withdrawing myself from Thursday's HSGAC hearing to lead the Office of Special Counsel because unfortunately I do not have enough Republican votes at this time,"
"I appreciate the overwhelming support that I have received throughout the process and will continue to serve President Trump and the administration to Make America Great Again!"
Paul Ingrassia withdrew his nomination to lead the Office of Special Counsel after offensive text messages were made public and key Republican senators refused to support him. The texts included a statement that the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday should be "tossed into the seventh circle of hell" and a self-description of having "a Nazi streak" at times. Several GOP senators, including staunch Trump allies, announced they would not back the nomination, prompting Ingrassia to pull his name before the scheduled confirmation hearing. The White House confirmed he is no longer the nominee.
