President Donald Trump posted screenshots of private messages from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and French President Emmanuel Macron on Truth Social. One message from Rutte praised Trump's actions in Syria and said Rutte planned to highlight U.S. work on Syria, Gaza, and Ukraine at Davos, while expressing commitment to finding a way forward on Greenland. Another message from Macron said the leaders were “totally in line on Syria,” suggested cooperation on Iran, and questioned Trump's Greenland efforts. NATO and French presidential aides confirmed the exchanges' authenticity. End-to-end encryption can secure transmissions, but technology cannot prevent deliberate disclosure of private communications.
