Trump blames rhetoric from the left for political violence after Charlie Kirk murder
""I ask all Americans to commit themselves to the American values for which Charlie Kirk lived & died. The values of free speech, citizenship, the rule of law & the patriotic devotion & love of God.""
""For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world's worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we're seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now," Trump said."
""Radical left political violence has hurt too many innocent people and taken too many lives. Tonight, I ask all Americans to commit themselves to the American values for which Charlie Kirk lived and died," Trump said."
A close ally, Charlie Kirk, was shot and killed at a Utah college campus event, and a suspect remained unnamed and at large at the time of the report. President Trump released an Oval Office video message praising Kirk for his conservative activism and crediting him with helping win the 2024 election. Trump condemned what he called the left and media for demonizing opponents and said such rhetoric contributes to political violence. He urged Americans to commit to values Kirk embodied—free speech, citizenship, the rule of law and devotion to God—and pledged to pursue those responsible and organizations that fund political violence.
