"President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced his administration had reached a deal with Harvard University after months of feuding. Early on in his second term, Trump sought to remove diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives by threatening to pull federal funding from any entity that makes use of them. That also went for universities across the country. Trump also tried to quell anti-Israel speech on college campus, which he conflated with anti-Semitism and pro-Hamas speech."
"Harvard leadership made it clear it would not cave to Trump's demands in spite of his threats to pull funding. In early September, a judge blocked the Trump administration's funding freeze on Harvard. During a press conference in the White House on Tuesday, Trump was joined by members of his cabinet to announced a health initiative aimed about combating child cancer."
President Donald Trump announced that his administration reached a deal with Harvard University following months of feuding over diversity, equity and inclusion policies and campus speech. Trump had earlier threatened to withdraw federal funding from entities using DEI initiatives and sought to limit anti-Israel campus speech he characterized as anti-Semitic and pro-Hamas. Harvard refused to comply with those demands and secured a legal win when a judge blocked the administration's funding freeze in early September. The White House announcement occurred at a press conference where Trump introduced cabinet members and said he and Education Secretary Linda McMahon had reached an agreement with Harvard.
