Trump administration backs off requiring response to "What did you do last week?" email
Briefly

Federal agencies are currently at an impasse regarding a directive from Elon Musk requiring employees to report five weekly accomplishments. Various departments like Defense, State, and Homeland Security advised against compliance, while others, such as Treasury and Commerce, encouraged responses under specific conditions. The guidance continues to evolve, with some agencies like HHS ultimately deciding that responses are voluntary and not affecting employment status. As the deadline approaches, employees voice concerns about potential repercussions from their superiors for sharing their accomplishments.
Late Monday, a third email told employees, 'There is no HHS expectation that HHS employees respond to OPM and there is no impact to your employment with the agency if you choose not to respond.'
Over the weekend, officials at the Departments of Defense, State, Homeland Security and Energy told workers not to respond to the government-wide 'What did you do last week?' email sent by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) on Saturday.
