Theresa May described a proposed assisted dying law as an 'assisted suicide bill' and said it effectively says suicide is OK. The comment came during a House of Lords debate on an assisted dying bill that will involve around 190 peers across a two-day debate. Thirteen assisted dying campaigners wrote a letter denouncing the language and said they listened with dismay to her intervention. Campaigners emphasized that terminally ill people are not suicidal; they want to live and to make the most of remaining time with loved ones. Campaigners said they seek choice, safety, and peace of mind that legalised assisted dying would provide.
