A significant campaign was launched by Steve Bannon and Mike Davis to challenge an AI regulatory moratorium included in the Big Beautiful Bill. Davis deemed the compromise on the ban unacceptable, prompting Bannon to shift War Room's focus to the issue despite his initial reluctance toward AI regulations. The stated intent was to pressure Republicans in the Senate to reverse the moratorium that would limit state-level AI legislation for five years, as the penalty for ignoring the moratorium was considerable, affecting $500 million in AI development funding.
This compromise is terrible. It's actually worse than the original.
Bannon wasn't a fan of the AI moratorium, or Big Tech in general, but War Room was built to push its fan base into pressuring Republicans.
