The State Department is scrubbing its X accounts of all posts from before Trump's second term
"A spokesperson confirmed to NPR that the content won't be archived publicly."
"to limit confusion on U.S government policy and to speak with one voice to advance the President, Secretary, and Administration's goals and messaging. It will preserve history while promoting the present."
"one of our most powerful tools for advancing the America First goals."
The State Department is wiping the post history of its X accounts, removing all posts from before President Trump's current term, including content from the Biden and Obama administrations and posts from Trump's first term. Several department-associated accounts, including U.S. embassies, will be affected. Removed content will not be preserved in a public archive; access to any deleted material will require a Freedom of Information Act request. A State Department spokesperson said the change aims to limit confusion on U.S. government policy, present a single voice for the administration, preserve history while promoting the present, and advance America First goals. This follows other government content purges.
