The altered logo replaced the word "Knicks" with "Zohran." Mamdani posted the advertisement on social media with the caption "This is our year. This is our time." The Knicks issued a cease-and-desist, asserting the ad is likely to mislead the public into believing the campaign is affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or connected to the team. The Knicks stated they do not endorse Mamdani and will pursue legal remedies. Mamdani is a frontrunner in a race that includes Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa, and incumbent Eric Adams dropped out and endorsed Cuomo while criticizing Mamdani publicly. Mamdani's campaign did not provide a public response.
