"Well, they're finally here. On Friday, the United States Department of Justice released a large trove of files related to infamous convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The release comes just eight hours before the deadline mandated by the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which President Donald Trump signed into law last month. For the Trump administration, Epstein has been "a guy that never dies," in the words of Trump himself."
"Since the start of Trump's second term, the DOJ and FBI have been scouring the agencies' investigative holdings and releasing portions of that in spurts. While Friday's release marks the largest trove of Epstein-related documents to date, the DOJ did not release all the documents in its possession, potentially setting off a legal fight that could lead to impeachment or even prosecution of department officials under the law"
The Department of Justice released a large trove of files related to Jeffrey Epstein eight hours before the Epstein Files Transparency Act deadline. The DOJ and FBI found over 300 gigabytes but did not include all holdings in the release. The DOJ can withhold or redact information that would identify victims or contains illegal child sexual-abuse material. A report to Congress is required within 15 days listing categories released and withheld and summarizing redactions and legal bases. The release contains evidence from investigations of Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, including logged physical evidence, call-log scans, and a scan of Massage for Dummies.
