Simon Harris insists housing supply figures supplied by Darragh O'Brien were given in 'good faith'
Briefly

Mr. Harris defended former Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien's housing figures presented before the election, asserting they were given in good faith. He acknowledged the recent stagnation in housing supply, emphasizing current efforts to improve the situation. This includes allocating substantial funds to initiate new housing projects and considering infrastructure needs for towns seeking development. Harris stressed the urgency of addressing housing shortages, particularly for young adults living with their parents, and the commitment of the new government to accelerate housing supply initiatives.
My focus right now is I am now relitigating the last government or the arguments of the last election. Rather now we are crucially answering the questions of how we can build more homes.
I think Minister O'Brien was providing information in good faith and I suppose the context to that information is that in the last number of years targets had been exceeded and indeed projections and targets by other bodies had been exceeded as well.
Because certainly that is what people around the country want to see happen. Adult children living in box rooms in their parents home they want to know when will they be able to buy their own home.
What we are hearing is that there are many towns and villages that want to develop housing but cant get planning permission due to a lack of connections.
