Sen. Thom Tillis called for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to be removed, citing her handling of the Alex Pretti case as disqualifying and amateurish. Alex Pretti, 37, was shot dead by Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis after claims he committed domestic terrorism. Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino reportedly asserted Pretti intended to massacre immigration agents and was subsequently ousted. Tillis said those actions were making President Donald Trump look bad on immigration policies he won on, called Bovino and others amateurs, and urged Bovino to retire. Sen. Lisa Murkowski and House Democratic leaders also urged Noem to step down or face impeachment, while the president defended her.
