"F**k you. I'm gonna punch you in your f**king face,"

During a 3 September dinner at the Executive Branch Club honoring Chamath Palihapitiya, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, 63, allegedly confronted FHFA director William Pulte over rumours Pulte had been speaking to President Trump about Bessent. Bessent reportedly used profane language and threatened physical violence, telling Pulte he would punch or “beat” him and demanding that either Pulte or club co-owner Omeed Malik be removed. The two were separated and seated at opposite ends of the table. Trump administration insiders described the episode as “bonkers” and “unhinged.” Bessent, Pulte, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick were announced to work on privatizing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
