Victor Escorcia, 21, faces charges for kidnapping, home invasion robbery, and attempted robbery in connection with two robberies that occurred last November. In the first robbery, a group of family members, including a young child, barricaded themselves in an upstairs bedroom as masked gunmen burst in. The gunmen were attempting to break down the bedroom door when they heard police sirens and left, authorities said.
In second robbery, a group of gunmen stole $1,000 from a mahjong table, but used a similar modus operandi.
Escorcia pleaded not guilty in June, and subsequently posted $250,000 bail to secure his release. In court filings, his attorney has described him as a loving and hardworking young man.
