"The case has its genesis in the ill-conceived and incompetently-implemented government pursuit of daily deportation quotas, apparently even if it requires traumatizing children,"
"'We the people' are hearing echoes of that history."
"Observing human behavior confirms that for some among us, the perfidious lust for unbridled power and the imposition of cruelty in its quest know no bounds and are bereft of human decency,"
"A republic, if you can keep it"
U.S. District Judge Fred Biery ordered release of six-year-old Ramos and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias, by Tuesday after their apprehension in Minneapolis. Biery condemned the government's pursuit of daily deportation quotas as ill-conceived and incompetently implemented and said such practices can traumatize children. Biery invoked the Declaration of Independence and Bible verses and criticized a perfidious lust for unbridled power and cruelty. DHS denied targeting the child or using him as bait and characterized the father as an illegal alien. The family says they are from Ecuador, applied for asylum in December 2024, and followed protocols. The school district said agents apprehended them in the driveway after preschool pickup.
