'Proud' pro-LGBTQ+ Democrat flips Republican state House seat in Georgia electoral upset
""HRC's well-timed support secured the votes we needed to win this election and flip this seat," Gisler said in a statement to The Advocate, adding that "full equality for all under the law is a common"
""Equality Voters.""
"'isn't just about Pride. It's about power'"
Democrat Eric Gisler flipped Georgia House District 121, winning by fewer than 200 votes in a seat President Donald Trump carried by 12 points. The district spans parts of Barrow, Jackson, and Madison counties along the outer edge east of metro Atlanta and the I-85 corridor. An anti-LGBTQ+ Republican incumbent won the seat last year with 61 percent. Gisler framed equality as a core civic value and ran an aggressive turnout operation. The Human Rights Campaign endorsed Gisler and mobilized volunteers, reaching roughly 1,000 members and 7,000 identified Equality Voters to help secure the victory.
