The ACLU filed a lawsuit for a 14-year-old student, Danielle Khalaf, who faced humiliation from her teacher after she refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. Danielle, of Palestinian descent, protested U.S. support for Israel's actions in Gaza. The teacher's comments, suggesting she should "go back to her country," along with subsequent emotional distress and social issues for Danielle, prompted the lawsuit. The ACLU argues her First Amendment rights were violated, seeking a financial award on her behalf. The school district acknowledged issues but cited legal constraints on further comment.
Since you live in this country and enjoy its freedom, if you don't like it, you should go back to your country.
We can only marvel at the conviction and incredible courage it took for her to follow her conscience and her heart.

Discrimination in any form is not tolerated by Plymouth-Canton Community Schools and is taken very seriously.
