Thousands of supporters of Imran Khan protested in several Pakistani cities, defying a government ban on gatherings. Police clashed with protesters as they demanded Khan's release on the second anniversary of his detention. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party aimed to organize peaceful protests nationwide, however, authorities detained over 240 supporters across various locations, particularly in Lahore. Khan, jailed since August 2023, faces multiple charges, including corruption, and he has been sentenced alongside his wife. Supporters called for true democracy and claimed the charges against him are politically motivated.
