The assailant, Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a Dominican national previously apprehended by Border Patrol, was taken into custody after the incident. Witnesses reported that two suspects approached the officer and a companion, leading to a confrontation. The officer sustained injuries but is in stable condition. Nunez, who had an active deportation order and a criminal warrant for kidnapping, was also injured in the exchange of gunfire.
