Newsom: CalFresh payments will flow in California
"Food benefits are now beginning to flow back to California families," Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a statement."
"The Trump administration is literally fighting in court to block American families' access to food," Newsom said."
""will complete the processes necessary""
Residents in California and other states began receiving full SNAP food aid after an appeals court left in place an order requiring the federal government to fund benefits amid a shutdown. California joined 22 other states in a lawsuit challenging the administration's refusal to fund SNAP, known as CalFresh in California. The administration asked the appeals court to allow partial payments instead, then sought Supreme Court review. A memo from a Food and Nutrition official indicated the administration "will complete the processes necessary" to issue full benefits, and several states reported payments arriving for November recipients.
