A five-year-old boy and his father were taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement after they left the boy's school in Columbia Heights, Minnesota. Family members did not know their whereabouts for nearly 24 hours. A lawyer alleged agents used the child as bait to draw out his mother. School officials said an adult at the home offered to care for the child but was refused. ICE disputed the bait allegation, said the father abandoned the child, and said agents tried to reunite him with his mother. Both the child and his father are being held at a Texas detention center.
