More than a million Epstein-related documents discovered; release delayed
"The US Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the FBI have informed the Department of Justice that they have uncovered over a million more documents potentially related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, the DOJ said in a statement, adding that more time is needed to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the law enacted last month that requires the government to open its files on Epstein and his longtime confidante Ghislaine Maxwell."
"The DOJ insisted in its statement that its lawyers are working around the clock to review those documents and make the redactions required under the law, passed nearly unanimously by Congress. Due to the mass volume of material, this process may take a few more weeks. The Department will continue to fully comply with federal law and President [Donald] Trump's direction to release the files, the DOJ said."
The Department of Justice is reviewing more than one million additional documents potentially related to Jeffrey Epstein that the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the FBI uncovered. The review will take a few more weeks to complete because lawyers must make redactions required under the Epstein Files Transparency Act enacted last month. The law requires public release of government files on Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. DOJ lawyers are working around the clock to process the mass volume of material. A bipartisan group of twelve senators has requested an inspector general audit to examine compliance and ensure full disclosure for victims.
