Trump officials publicly labeled Pretti an assassin and claimed he intended to massacre federal agents, claims that later proved to be malicious lies. An earlier video resurfaced showing Pretti insulting ICE and spitting on an SUV during a prior confrontation after reporters were tipped that ICE was blocking a roadway. Pro-Trump trolls seized that earlier footage to attempt to defame Pretti after his killing.
