Karoline Leavitt Shoots Down Mike Johnson's Wild Claim Trump Was FBI Operative Tasked With Taking Down Epstein
"Last Friday, CNN's Manu Raju asked Johnson about the case regarding Jeffrey Epstein. Although Trump was previously friends with Epstein, he has repeatedly insisted that anything connected him to the activities of the convicted sex trafficker was a hoax. Seemingly out of nowhere, Johnson told Raju that Trump was an FBI informant and used his close friendship with Epstein to help the federal government take him down. Two days later, Johnson walked back those comments."
"During Tuesday's briefing, Leavitt definitively confirmed that Trump was not an informant. I think the Speaker was referring to the fact that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago property for reasons the president has already discussed, Leavitt said. On Monday, Congress released the supposed birthday note framed by a sketch a nude woman that Trump wrote to Epstein. Immediately after its publication, the Trump administration denied the president wrote it and pointed to discrepancies with the signature."
House Speaker Mike Johnson claimed President Donald Trump acted as an FBI informant and used his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein to assist federal authorities. The claim surfaced during a CNN interview about the Epstein case, and Johnson later walked back the statement. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt publicly denied that Trump was an informant during a Tuesday briefing. Leavitt said the Speaker likely referred to Trump ejecting Epstein from Mar-a-Lago for previously stated reasons. Congress released a supposed birthday note to Epstein, which the administration denied Trump wrote, citing signature discrepancies.
