Forty-three points under water with independents in the most recent average of these polls. When you have 43 points under water with independents, you know you're doing terribly."
Recent November polls show President Donald Trump deeply underwater across multiple national surveys, with deficits ranging from 14 to 26 points. Marquette records a 14-point deficit; Fox and Marist show 17 points; Reuters/Ipsos reports 22 points; and AP-NORC shows 26 points. Independent voters have swung dramatically against Trump, with the net approval among independents falling from about -4 in January to roughly -43 in the recent average. A deficit of this size among independents makes winning difficult and places Republican control of the House and Senate at significant risk in the 2026 midterm elections.
