U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria expressed skepticism about the validity of her claims regarding federal rights violations. The county's board of supervisors will review findings from an independent investigator leading to calls for her resignation, which Corpus has consistently denied while facing scrutiny over alleged misconduct. The initiative empowering the board to initiate removal was overwhelmingly supported by local voters in March 2023.
U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria stated, "the Court is skeptical that Corpus will ever be able to prevail on her claims that the removal process violates her federal rights."
Chhabria additionally noted that even if there were serious questions regarding the merits of Corpus's claims, the Court would not intervene in an ongoing local government process.
