Sessions, born on December 24, 1946, in Selma, Alabama, is a former US attorney general and Republican senator from Alabama. He served in various positions throughout his career, including as US Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama and Alabama Attorney General.
During his time in the Senate, Sessions voted against the confirmations of Supreme Court justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, supported building a border fence, and was an opponent of the 2013 Gang of Eight immigration reform bill.
