Jamie Lee Curtis breaks down in tears over death of Charlie Kirk
"I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died, that he felt connected with his faith. Even though his ideas were abhorrent to me. I still believe he's a father and a husband and a man of faith. And I hope whatever connection to God means that he felt it."
"Call them out and, hell, call their employer. We don't believe in political violence but we do believe in civility. We have to talk about this incredibly destructive movement of left-wing extremism that has grown up over the [past] few years, and I believe is part of the reason why Charlie was killed by an assassin's bullet."
Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck during an open-air debate at Utah Valley University on 10 September and died in hospital later that day. Suspected shooter Tyler Robinson was arrested two days later and appeared remotely in court on 16 September, facing seven charges including aggravated murder and witness tampering. Kirk was known for anti-LGBTQ+ views and had claimed that "too many" US mass shooters were transgender. Jamie Lee Curtis became emotional when discussing the shooting, calling his ideas abhorrent but expressing hope he felt connected to his faith. The death intensified divisions, and JD Vance urged reporting anyone celebrating it and linked left-wing extremism to the killing.
