James Carville appeared on Fox News' America with Kayleigh McEnany and criticized his own party’s leadership and processes. He singled out the streamlined decision to elevate Kamala Harris as the 2024 replacement for Joe Biden as a mistake and lamented the lack of a contested primary. Carville said Gavin Newsom was overlooked and that Harris was not given town halls to demonstrate her capabilities. McEnany called Senator John Fetterman the single smartest person in the party and urged Democrats to listen to him. Carville dismissed that notion and called the party in deep trouble if Fetterman were its smartest. Carville praised Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as a voice he would listen to daily.
