House Speaker Mike Johnson discussed Elon Musk's initiative aiming to improve government efficiency on Fox News. He refuted claims from a left-leaning commentator linking Musk's actions to racism, insisting that the real issue is excessive government spending and inefficiency. Johnson highlighted that decades of poor oversight have allowed misuse of funds, such as U.S. aid for unrelated projects. His remarks contrasted sharply with those of liberal contributor Marie Harf, who cautioned against hastily implemented reforms that might harm veterans and noted the care necessary to ensure the government operates effectively.
For them to say this has anything whatsoever to do with race, it has to do with government largesse. The government is too big, it does too many things.
Elon has gotten inside. He has algorithms crawling through the data as he says the data doesn't lie. And the American people are with us on this.
This is moving fast and breaking things and hurting a lot of people in the process. I don't trust that it will fix it later.
The government shouldn't be in the business of firing a veteran who served their country for 20 years and then having to fix it later.
