US special envoy Steve Witkoff stated that the future deal with Iran requires the elimination of its nuclear enrichment programme, contradicting his earlier remarks about acceptable low levels of enrichment. Witkoff affirmed that the framework of any arrangement should ensure peace and stability in the Middle East. Highlighting the increasing levels of uranium enrichment, Witkoff specified that Iran's enrichment exceeds allowable limits and stressed the critical need for a thorough verification process as they prepare for further negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear activities.
Any final arrangement must set a framework for peace, stability, and prosperity in the Middle East meaning that Iran must stop and eliminate its nuclear enrichment and weaponization program, Witkoff said in a statement on Tuesday.
We create a tough, fair deal that will endure, and that is what President Trump has asked me to do.
When enriched at 90 percent, uranium can be used for weapons. They do not need to enrich past 3.67 percent, Witkoff said.
In some circumstances, they're at 60 percent. In other circumstances, 20 percent. That cannot be.
